Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. The group consists of Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Nick O'Malley, and Matt Helders.
On 24 August 2014, the band announced a hiatus following their AM Tour. Turner and Helders have both pursued other projects during this time.
In 2016, Turner announced his second album with the Last Shadow Puppets, Everything You've Come to Expect.
According to Helders, Jamie Cook came up with the name at school before the band existed, saying "He just always wanted to be in a band called Arctic Monkeys. Which is a cool name."
